About our Organization:

The Archie Browning Sports Centre is a multi-use facility, which includes an ice arena, a six-sheet curling rink, lounge areas, and the Township of Esquimalt Parks and Recreation Department Administrative Office.

The Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a multi-purpose wellness and community recreation facility. Features of the Recreation Centre include: 4500 + square foot Wellness Centre, featuring state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, gymnasium, aquatic centre with six-lane 25 metre lap pool, warm “lifestyle pool” and tot pool with spray features, wheelchair accessible hot-tub, steam room, and sauna. In addition, to recreation activities and programs, there are hundreds of year-round community programs to choose from.

About the Opportunity:

The Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a one-year, full-time Maintenance Lead Hand position reporting to the Facilities Supervisor.

Our Preferred Candidate:

The ideal candidate will coordinate, assign, and review quality of work and ensure equitable distribution of tasks to employees.  Ensures timely & accurate completion of tasks. Assist with troubleshooting and plans future projects as assigned by supervisor. Perform custodial and mechanical maintenance functions on buildings and equipment.  Perform operational tasks including ordering of cleaning, chemical supplies, and small equipment.

Qualifications include:
  • High school graduation plus related supervisory/leadership post secondary training (one year)
  • Current and valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Pool Operator’s Level I and II certificates
  • Arena Ice Makers Course, Level I and II
  • Power Engineer Class 5 with refrigeration endorsement recognized under the BC Pressure Vessels and Boilers Act
  • Clear Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector.

  • Salary: $33.59 – $36.19 plus 14% in lieu of benefits
  • Hours per week: 40
