About our Organization:

The Township of Esquimalt is home to 13 parks, 4 greenways and open spaces, 12 waterways and beach accesses, and 3 recreation facilities. 

About the Opportunity:

The Parks Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time Parks Admin Support position. Reporting to the Parks Manager, this position will provide excellent customer service to municipal staff, residents, and parks users; respond to requests from the public providing directions, general information, and updates on ongoing park projects; and support the Parks Department through various administrative, promotional, and direct customer support initiatives. The incumbent will perform payroll-related tasks for department regular full-time and auxiliary employees, organize employee requests and feedback, and maintain staffing competition files and auxiliary staffing filing system. Additionally, this position supports the administration of the Parks permitting and Parks donation programs and maintains the department website.

 

Our Preferred Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have high school graduation plus one year of technical school/community college in Office Administration, Programming, or Marketing and two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic First Aid and CPR certification and a Clear Criminal Record Check are required. Other preferred qualifications include:

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and ability to interact with the public in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Work effectively in and contribute positively to a team environment
  • Strong proficiency in using Office software; working knowledge of current Municipal software applications (PerfectMind, Diamond) and willingness to learn new technology and software
  • Knowledge and ability to make updates to website
  • Ability to maintain accurate records; familiarity with electronic and paper records management systems. 

Salary: $32.35 – $34.89 hourly plus benefits

Hours per week: 35
