Public Input at Council Meetings

There are three ways that residents can provide input to the Municipal Council at Council Meetings:

1.       By applying to appear as a delegation to Council

Residents may appear as a delegation before Council to make a presentation, submit a request for action, register a complaint, or provide updates or information to Council about issues, projects, or programs.

  • A written application must be received by the Administration Department by noon on the Wednesday prior to the Council meeting. If it is received after this time, arrangements will be made to have your delegation request presented at the next available meeting.
  • Presentations are limited to five minutes, unless a longer period is agreed to by resolution of Council.

Download an Application to Make A Presentation to Council or pick up an application from the Municipal Hall.

2.       By asking questions or making comments during the Public Input period
  • A maximum time of 10 minutes is provided to members of the public to ask questions or make comments on any item listed on the Council agenda (excluding matters which are or have been the subject of a Public Hearing).
  • Each individual address will be limited to two minutes.
3.       By speaking during the Public Question and Comment period
  • Individuals may address Council on any matter of their choice.
  • Each speaker will be limited to two minutes.
