Child Car Seat Installation

Every year approximately 10,000 children (12 years or younger) are injured in traffic collisions in Canada. Surveys show that as many as one-third of Canadian children are not properly restrained when they are travelling in motor vehicles.

The only way to protect children from the dangers of collisions or sudden stops is to restrain them properly.

There are four stages of child safety in vehicles:

Stage 1
Rear-facing infant car seat (from birth to at least 9kg (20 lb) or one year old)

Stage 2
Forward-facing Child Seat from 10 kg (22 lb) to 18 kg (40 lb)

Stage 3
Booster seat from 18 kg (40 lb) to 27 kg (80 lb)

Stage 4
Seat belts over 27 kg (80 lb)
