About our organization:
The Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a multi-purpose wellness and community recreation facility. Features of the Recreation Centre include: 4500 + square foot Wellness Centre, featuring state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, gymnasium, aquatic centre with six-lane 25 metre lap pool, warm "lifestyle pool" and tot pool with spray features, wheelchair acessible hot-tub, steam room, and sauna. In addtion, to recreation activities and programs, there are hundreds of year-round community programs to choose from.
About the opportunity:
The Recreation Department is seeking motivated individuals to fill auxiliary waterfit instructor positions. Reporting to the Aquatic Programmer, the ideal candidates will:
- Instruct and participate in water exercise/aerobic classes
- Choreograph movements and plan music for classes
- Evaluate individual progress and discuss with participants
- Conduct safety review of class procedures
- Monitor class to recognize any distress in participants
Qualifications:
- Recognized Aquatic Fitness Instructor qualification provided by BCRPA, CALA, or YMCA, or equivalent training and experience
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification an asset
- Clear criminal record check, including vulnerable sector check

Salary: $25.03 – $27.03 hourly plus 14% in lieu of benefits (2024 rates)
