About our organization:

The Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a multi-purpose wellness and community recreation facility. Features of the Recreation Centre include: 4500 + square foot Wellness Centre, featuring state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, gymnasium, aquatic centre with six-lane 25 metre lap pool, warm “lifestyle pool” and tot pool with spray features, wheelchair accessible hot-tub, steam room, and sauna. In addition, to recreation activities and programs, there are hundreds of year-round community programs to choose from.

 

About the opportunity: 

The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill an Auxiliary Reception position, reporting to the Reception Programmer. 

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Work well in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong multi-tasking skills
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Answer inquires regarding community programs and services both on the phone and over the counter
  • Operate registration and point of sale software, handling cash and daily cash-outs 
  • Be a central point of communication for the day-to-day operation for public and staff.  Perform several clerical duties.

Qualifications:

 

  • One-year of office/reception and cash-handling experience – or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Graduation from senior secondary school
  • Strong communication skills, demonstrated ability to deal with public in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Experience operating computer programs including Microsoft Office, point of sale software and using computer databases (Preferable)
  • Provision of a current clean Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check
  • Evening and weekend availability preferred.

Salary: $23.18 – $25.03 hourly + 14% in lieu of benefits (2024 rates)
