About our Organization:

The Esquimalt Gorge Pavilion is a 6000+ sq ft building that covers two floors, both with stunning views of the water. Each floor contains 3000 sq ft rentable space along with a servery that includes prep counters, residential fridge, range, dishwasher, and sink.

About the Opportunity:

The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time Pavilion Supervisor position to support our team at the Esquimalt Gorge Park Pavilion. Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, this position requires a strong facility leader with proven ability to work independently while providing ongoing justification for decisions related to income generation. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a focus on customer service, facility contracts, liaising with the maintenance department, and marketing to maximize the use of the facility.  

The Pavilion Supervisor will:

  • Be responsible for room bookings and rental use agreements at the Gorge Park Pavilion
  • Process requests for the use of the Gorge Park Pavilion and Park using Xplor Recreation software to prepare, process, and maintain contracts
  • Prepare and communicate facility maintenance requirements for room set ups and take down schedules
  • Provide a high level of customer service and administrative support responding to inquiries and request from various user groups and stakeholders, including staff and the general public
  • Maintain up to date records for insurance, accounts receivable, and other rental related matters
  • Assist with the design, development, and delivery of promotional materials
  • Serve as the main contact for scheduling and staffing requirements for bookings in the Gorge Park Pavilion
  • Ensure compliance with licensing and other regulatory requirements
  • Perform daily cash handling duties
  • Prepare payroll
  • Order stock and related materials and supplies
  • Maintain open and effective communication with public, staff, and supervisor
Our Preferred Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • High school graduation
  • Two year diploma in event management or related field
  • Valid B.C. Driver’s License
  • Clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Three years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency with Xplor Recreation software

Salary: $35.25 – $38.02 hourly plus benefits

Hours per week: 35

Scheduled hours will depend on operational need and may include evenings and weekends.
