Esquimalt has a diverse array of coastal ecosystems from rocky coastlines to Garry Oak meadows. The Township shares the Gorge Waterway with other communities in the CRD and is taking steps to steward the waterway through renaturalization and educational opportunities

Climate action planning

The Esquimalt Climate Action Plan envisions a future where Esquimalt residents experience the benefits of a connected, healthy, and economically prosperous community while acting on climate change and adapting to climate impacts. 2023 LGCAP Survey

The Local Government Climate Action Program (LGCAP) provides funding to support local climate action that reduces emissions and prepares communities for impacts of climate change. As part of the program, recipients of funding will be required to report on their actions.
