About our Organization:

The Archie Browning Sports Centre is a multi-use facility, which includes an ice arena, a six-sheet curling rink, lounge areas, and the Township of Esquimalt Parks and Recreation Administrative Office. 

The Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a multi-purpose wellness and community recreation facility. Features of the Recreation Centre include: 4500 + square foot Wellness Centre, featuring state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, gymnasium, aquatic centre with six-lane 25 metre lap pool, warm “lifestyle pool” and tot pool with spray features, wheelchair accessible hot-tub, steam room, and sauna. In addition, to recreation activities and programs, there are hundreds of year-round community programs to choose from.

About the Opportunity:

The Recreation Department is seeking motivated individuals to fill two Skate Shop Attendant/Ice Patrol positions, reporting to the Ice Programs Supervisor. This is an auxiliary position, and scheduled hours may vary, with shifts typically taking place on weekday afternoons.

Our Preferred Candidate:

The ideal candidates will:

  • Distribute rental skates to patrons
  • Process payment for admission and rentals
  • Provide customer service and communicate with public regarding skating schedules, facility policies and regulations
  • Ensure facility policies, procedures, and regulations are implemented, ensuring the ice complex area is safe
  • Ensure proper documentation is completed for all accidents and incidents
  • Perform related duties as required

Other preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working with the public
  • Skating skills
  • Current First Aid and CPR-C Certification
  • Clear Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector check
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills

Salary: $20.09 hourly plus 14% in lieu of benefits
