Mark your calendar and join us for the launch of Esquimalt’s centennial celebrations with an afternoon of festivities, including music, displays, barbecue, activities for the kids, fire hall exhibits and demonstrations.
What: Esquimalt Centennial 2012 Kick-off Event
Where: Esquimalt Town Square, behind Municipal Hall, 1229 Esquimalt Road
When: October 8, 2011, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Our Centennial Kick-off Event will include:
- A Centennial Proclamation by Esquimalt Town Crier
- Centennial kick-off speech from Mayor Barb Desjardins
- Over four hours of live music featuring local and regional musicians, including:
- the first public performance of “Esquimalt Shines” the Esquimalt Centennial 2012 theme song written and performed by Fraser Campbell
- That 70s Band
- The Soul Shakers
- Maureen Washington
- Deckard Cain
- Irish Dancing by O’Brien’s School of Irish Dancing
- Fire hall open house, featuring:
- The Dunk Tank (Who will be dunked? Join us to find out!)
- Sparky the Fire Dog
- Live demonstrations
- Face painting
- Fire truck tours
- 99th birthday cake by Country Grocer, an Esquimalt100 official sponsor
- The Lion’s hot dog barbecue - free hot dogs and refreshments!
- Display area featuring centennial community partners and organizations
- Bouncy Castle and children’s entertainment
- Unveiling of centennial banners.…and more!
