The Township of Esquimalt will be conducting a comprehensive community accessibility audit of all Municipal buildings and facilities as well as local businesses. The accessibility audit will be taking place throughout the week of July 6th – 10th. The purpose of the study is to develop a comprehensive strategy to make the Township of Esquimalt accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities.

The sites that will be assessed in this audit include the municipal hall, recreation centres, the Esquimalt Road commercial district, the Village Centre, and outdoor trails, playgrounds and parks.

The assessment of local businesses will include suggestions for how business owners can increase the accessibility of their services for patrons with disabilities.

Funding for this initiative comes from the provincial Measuring Up Fund/2010 Legacies Now. This study will help make the Township of Esquimalt an accessible and inclusive community for both residents and visitors.
