ESQUIMALT, BC—The Township of Esquimalt, in partnership with the Esquimalt Chamber of Commerce, is excited to announce the continuation of the successful Business Façade Improvement Program (BFIP). This program offers financial assistance and design services to local businesses looking to revitalize their building façades.
"A vibrant community starts with attractive and welcoming storefronts," said Esquimalt Mayor Barbara Desjardins. "This program not only enhances the visual appeal of our commercial areas but also supports our local businesses and boosts the overall economic health of Esquimalt."
“This program adds more than just a fresh look to businesses' façades,” said Esquimalt Chamber President Holly Courtright. “It's an investment in their overall success and the vibrancy of our community. This has a major impact on economic growth and fosters a sense of pride for all.”
Program enhancements and successes
This year's BFIP features a one-time renovation grant of 50 per cent reimbursement of up to $5,000 per building/project with a single-face improvement and $10,000 per building/project on a corner lot with a two-face improvement. In addition, the program will provide an architect to the applicant to assist with design support established by the applicant’s budget, should they need one.
“We were pleased to see the business community come forward with their applications as a demonstration of their commitment to enhancement of their frontages,” said Heather Spinney of Studio PA | Praxis Architects Inc. “This is an important collaborative community project, supporting and fostering civic pride.”
A few businesses took advantage of the inaugural program, resulting in remarkable transformations. One such success story is Fort Properties on Esquimalt Road.
“This program was easy to use,” said Suzanne Bradbury of Fort Properties. "It helps landlords invest and take pride in the condition of their buildings.”
