Residents can now provide feedback on Esquimalt's greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets online by viewing the April 21st, 2010 open house presentation and completing a short survey. The open house took place at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre.
The Local Government Act requires that an official community plan include GHG reduction targets by May 31, 2010. Recognizing climate science, Esquimalt’s GHG reduction targets are: to reduce GHG emissions by at least 38% below 2007 levels by 2020; and at least 83% below 2007 levels by 2050.
