Notice of Amendment to Council Procedure Bylaw - Regular Council meeting on May 27, 2024

In accordance with Section 124 of the Community Charter, public notice is hereby given that at the regular Council meeting scheduled to be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, Esquimalt Municipal Hall, 1229 Esquimalt Road, the Council of the Township of Esquimalt will consider adoption of amendments to the existing Council Procedure Bylaw, 2022, No. 3081. 

Amendments will incorporate several housekeeping items and new provisions including, but not limited to the following

• Revise the definition for “Public Notice Posting Places”.
• Introduce greater flexibility into the presentation procedures; 
• Change the annual meeting schedule in the year of a general local election;
• Create official agenda space for the presentation of awards or other honours; and 
• Align procedural provisions with current Council practice.

Council Procedure Bylaw, 2022, No. 3081, Amendment Bylaw, 2024, No. 3135 is available for public inspection as attached above or copies are available at the Administration counter at the Municipal Hall, 1229 Esquimalt Road. 

Members of the public may provide comments for Council’s consideration by:

1. Submitting written comments by 12:00 p.m. on May 27, 2024. All correspondence submitted will form part of the public record and may be published in a meeting agenda. Comments may be submitted by:
   • Emailing comments to [email protected]
   • Mailing comments to 1229 Esquimalt Road, Esquimalt, BC, V9A 3P1
   • Delivering comments to the drop box by the main entrance to Municipal Hall, 1229 Esquimalt Road.
2. Speaking to the bylaw in person at the meeting during Public Input.
3. Registering to speak during the meeting via telephone by contacting Corporate Services at 250-414-7177 prior to 4:30 p.m. on May 27, 2024.
