Anderson Park, located on Colville Road across from Esquimalt High School, has been chosen as the site for the Esquimalt Community Garden.
The selection was made as a result of the Community Gardens Task Force’s consultation with Council, staff and the community. The task force was appointed earlier this year by Council to look at community garden opportunities in the Township.
The Anderson Park Community Garden will use 10 per cent of the park’s total land area (approximately 300 square meters) and will include both private allotments and shared community gardening opportunities.
The newly-formed Esquimalt Community Gardens Society is accepting applications for garden plots. Applicants must be Esquimalt residents and priority will be given to residents of apartment buildings, or others with no access to a yard.
The deadline for applications is Wednesday, June 16th at 5 p.m.
