Business licencing promotes safe and legitimate business premises and operations within Esquimalt.

The primary function is to provide initial advice for new businesses, process business licence applications within the context of Esquimalt’s regulatory requirements, and maintain an up-to-date database on existing businesses in the municipality. 

Updated Business Licence Bylaw.
The updated Business Licence and Regulation Bylaw, 2024, No 3144, was adopted at the Council meeting on September 9, 2024. The new fees and categories will come into effect on January 1, 2025, which includes several positive changes which will help promote a business-friendly environment by providing clarity on new categories of licences and pricing structures. Download the PDF here.

MyEsquimalt is an online payment platform that will allow you to access your township accounts 24 hours a day.

Services include applying for, reviewing and renewing business licences and dog licences. Residents are also able to sign up to receive an electronic property tax notice and make a payment online using a credit card.
