Esquimalt Fire Rescue would like to remind the public that possessing, selling or discharging fireworks within the Municipality is prohibited under Bylaw No. 2663, A Bylaw to Regulate the Use of Fireworks.
VicPD enforces this bylaw and failure to comply results in seizures and fines. The maximum fine for an infraction is $10,000 with a minimum of $200. Under the bylaw it is possible to apply for an exception through a Fireworks Supervisor Certificate. For more information on acquiring a certificate please click here.
Motorists are also reminded to be extra cautious and watch for trick-or-treaters crossing the streets this Halloween.
Esquimalt Fire Rescue wishes Esquimalt residents a safe and happy Halloween, and invites everyone to come out and enjoy the Lion’s Halloween Bonfire next to the Archie Browning Sports Centre.
