The Esquimalt ESS team provides short-term, essential support to people evacuated due to emergencies or disasters.
How ESS Helps:
- Assists evacuees without insurance by providing food, clothing, lodging, and transportation through local vendors or by connecting them with family or friends.
- Links evacuees with additional community resources, including NGOs and nonprofits.
- Opens and operates Reception Centres to assist individuals during large-scale emergencies.
- Manages Group Lodging Facilities (shelters) for displaced residents when needed.
- Provides emotional support and referrals to specialized services for those experiencing trauma or stress.
- Ensures accessibility for individuals with disabilities or special needs during emergencies.
