Type(s)
News

Esquimalt Youth Services would like to invite the community, both youth and adults, to fill out the Youth Strategy On-line Survey. The information gathered will help to develop the Esquimalt Youth Strategy for the period 2011 - 2016. What would you like to see offered for youth in Esquimalt? What are your concerns and ideas?

Esquimalt Parks and Recreation is holding a prize draw for those participating in the survey. The adult survey prize is a three-month pass to the Esquimalt Recreation Centre. The youth prize is a Summer 2011 Buddy Pass, which provides free drop-in admission for the winner and a friend for July and August 2011.

Survey deadline to be included in the prize draws is Friday, May 20th, 2011.

If you are 18 years or younger, please complete the survey for youth here.

If you are 19 years or older, please complete the survey for adults here.

Esquimalt Youth Services offer several programs for youth in the community. The two primary programs are Teen Centre Drop-In and Youth Only Friday Nights. Teen Drop-in is open Tuesday to Thursday after school until 5 pm, and Thursday and Saturday night from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Teen Drop-In is run out of the Esquimalt Teen Centre (ETC). The ETC is a supervised space for youth to hang out and get connected to other programs offered through the teen centre like Girls Group, drop-in sports or volunteer opportunities. Youth Only Friday Nights (YOF) runs every Friday night from 8 to 11 pm at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre. During YOF the entire building is reserved for youth 11 to 18 years of age for a drop-in fee of $2.25. Participants have access to the pool, gymnasium and fitness centre. The atrium is also a hub of activity where on any given Friday night there might be movies, music, food or video games on the agenda. Other programs offered through Esquimalt Youth Services include: Youth Internship Program, Leadership Opportunities, Dances, Camping Trips, Out-trips, advocacy, and free and low cost recreational and social activities.
