The Esquimalt Emergency Program—working with Canadian Red Cross Volunteers—will be delivering Emergency Preparedness Sessions to Grade 4 students at both Macaulay Elementary and École Victor Brodeur on Thursday, April 28th.
This fun and valuable program is in advance of National Emergency Preparedness Week 2011, which runs from May 1st to 7th. Students will be participating in two games which help them learn and start thinking about individual preparedness. The Esquimalt Emergency Program will also leave each student with a starter Grab & Go Kit in a high visibility backpack tote with a whistle, glow stick, foil blanket and other practical items. The goal of the program is to educate and prepare families for emergencies and disasters in our region.
The costs for the program in 2011 are covered by Esquimalt Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation. A total of 126 students—representing all Grade 4 students in the jurisdiction—will be provided with the training.
