Esquimalt fire fighters are active in the community. These are some of the ways that fire fighters make a difference:
As part of the Greater Victoria Core Charitable Association (comprised of Saanich, Oak Bay, Victoria, and Esquimalt) the members support the Mustard Seed, BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund, Terry Fox Foundation, and have made a ten year commitment to raise $250,000 for Victoria General Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
The fire department started an initiative called Firefighters Against Cancerous Exposures (F.A.C.E) in 2007 to raise awareness about firefighters’ risk of exposure to carcinogens. They raised $55,000 for the BC Cancer Agency and Firefighters’ Cancer Support Network.
Participation in various events for Muscular Dystrophy fundraising including the MD Boot Drive
Lending a helping hand in support of Tim Horton’s Camp Days, McDonald McHappy Days, and CFAX Santa’s Anonymous
