The Township of Esquimalt has purchased land, now used for parking, to begin the process of constructing a new public safety building. This property is next to and north of the existing facility, facing Esquimalt Road. The current building will eventually be removed and the new building constructed under its footprint.

Fire department history
A joint Fire-Police Department existed in the Township of Esquimalt from the time of incorporation in 1912 until 2002.
In 2003, a stand-alone fire department was formed in Esquimalt and policing in Esquimalt was merged with the Victoria Police Department.
