On the morning of March 20th Mayor Barb Desjardins received news of new federal and provincial funding for the Township at the front of the Esquimalt Municipal Hall. The President of the Treasury Board, the Honourable Vic Toews, and the Minister of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development Ida Chong, were on hand to present Esquimalt, and four other south island Mayors, with funding announcements.
For Esquimalt, the announcement included $74,310 in LocalMotion funding for new sidewalk construction in the industrial park and $3,150 in Trees for Tomorrow funding for the Gorge Creek reforestation project to naturalize two hectares.
