Esquimalt, BC—If you’re planning on enjoying any parks in Esquimalt this long weekend, the Township wants to remind everyone to do so safely.
“We understand that people are feeling cooped up and that seeking some sunshine this weekend will be a priority for some,” said Mayor Barbara Desjardins. “In the best interests of everyone involved, please ignore the temptation to gather in groups or bend the rules in any way. We must follow the advice of our Provincial Health Officer in a committed and consistent fashion”.
Like elsewhere in the Capital Regional District, popular parks and walkways in Esquimalt are seeing higher use. The Township has increased communications reminding residents and visitors to give each other at least 2 metres of space, including placing signs in strategic locations at Saxe Point Park, West Bay Walkway and other high traffic areas.
To help residents navigate through common questions relating to behaviour in parks, physical distancing and self-isolation, Esquimalt has added a “frequently asked questions” section to the Township’s dedicated COVID-19 information page.
Residents can also keep current on important information by signing up to Esquimalt Alert or following the Township’s social media sites.
