Esquimalt is hosting its annual 5k and Kids 1K Fun Run!
Join the community for one of the most scenic runs in the region.
The route will take you to Saxe Point Park, through Macaulay Park, through peaceful neighbourhoods. Take in the mountain and ocean views, this run will be over before you know it! Then, the real fun starts. Join the Esquimalt Recreation team in the Archie Browning Sports Centre after for snacks, games, prizes, and a bouncy castle for kids.

Draws for prizes will take place 10:30am-11:30am in the Curling Rink. Participants must be present to win. If you think you will be on the course for longer than 55 minutes, please put your name in the box at bib pick up so we can keep your prize aside if you win.
We will have a photo booth provided by Four Frames Photography, Kids Zone, and post stretching activity after the run!
Refreshments generously provided by Country Grocer will be available in the Curling Rink after the race.
The 1K Kids Run will start at 9:00am and the 5K Event will start at 9:30am!
The start line is on Lyall Street close to the intersection of Lyall and Swinford.
No. Please register your child only - although, you are welcome and encouraged to participate in the 1K alongside them. We proudly encourage adults to lead by example and support their children in healthy, active living; have fun!
Race number/timing chip pick up is available:

*** Bib pick-up will be coordinated by race number - posted at the rink. You will need to find your number on the marked display board and line up appropriately to receive your/your friend's race number. ***
Please remember to attach your race number to the front of your shirt that you plan to finish in (make it visible).
A timing chip is located on your bib and will track of your race time (your time will start when you cross the start line and will finish when you cross the finish line).
Your bib/number/chip is assigned to you so please do not exchange bibs with your family members or friends.
Please make every effort to carpool, walk, bike or bus to the event. Visit BC Transit for bus info: www.transitbc.com/regions/vic/?p=2.list Bike racks are located at the front of the Esquimalt Recreation Centre, at 527 Fraser St.
If you drive to the event, please park at the front of the Archie Browning Sports Centre (limited spaces available). Please do not park in the Plaza as this is for customers. Street parking is available however; please respect RESIDENTIAL PARKING ONLY zones as parking is enforced. The accessible parking spots in front of the sports centre are still available for those who need them. There will be no entry/exit off Lyall Street to the rear parking lot from 8:30 am - 10:30 am.
The roads are OPEN along the majority of the race route so please be aware of vehicle traffic around you while you are running and walking. Marshals will be stationed at major intersections for your safety. Police will also be stationed in some locations along the race route. The only exception to this is Lyall street, will be closed between Admirals Street and Lampson Street from 8:45am-10:45am on event day.
A complimentary coat check will be available at the Sports Centre.
Results will be available online through Race Day Timing Services. A link will be available at esquimalt.ca and QR code will be posted in the Archie Browning Sport Centre.
You are welcome to run or walk with a stroller. Please start at the back of the pack to avoid congestion.
For the safety of participants and your pet, race participants are not permitted to participate with their dog.
Unfortunately, childminding is not available.
Yes! This year we will be selling Esquimalt t-shirts! This year's shirt is a limited edition shirt with a design created by a local community member. The winner of the t-shirt design contest will be announced on Friday, February 23rd. Shirts will be available for purchase on the event day as well as after the event is completed at Reception by 1:00pm on Saturday, April 13
