About the Opportunity:


The Public Works Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time Maintenance Worker position. Reporting to the Public Works Supervisor, the Maintenance Worker performs a wide variety of maintenance, minor construction, and repairs to street furniture, municipal equipment, building fixtures, irrigation systems, playground equipment and municipal facilities. This role requires a candidate with a diverse maintenance skill set including skills in carpentry, basic plumbing and construction, masonry, welding, and the ability to maintain irrigation and sewer systems. Additionally they will be required to operate a forklift, light tractors, bucket trucks and municipal vehicles.
 

Our Preferred Candidate:


The ideal candidate will have three years related experience supplemented by certifications in the following: Backflow Assembly Tester, Irrigation Technician - Level 1 and 2 Landscape, Bucket Truck Operator, and Forklift Operator. A valid class 5 B.C driver’s license, basic first aid certification, and WHMIS certification are required. A class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement and traffic control certification are an asset.

Salary:  $34.89 hourly (2024 rates) plus benefits
Hours per week: 40
